PERU: WOMEN WITH CANCER SHOWS THEIR BEAUTY AND FIGHTING SPIRIT FOR LIFE IN A PARADE "ALWAYS BEAUTIFUL".

 - Event was held by INEN's Breast Club, on October 19, on the "Day of Fight against Breast Cancer".

Brave women who have overcome or are overcoming the bitter experience of having a cancer diagnosis and who have received various cancer treatments demonstrated their fighting spirit to continue living, feeling loved and productive for society, in the "Always Beautiful" parade held by the "Breast Club" of the Institute of Neoplastic Diseases of Lima, Perú (INEN).

This emotional and traditional activity was part of the National Week against Cancer 2023. In this regard, the president of the Peruvian Cancer Society, Dr. Tatiana Vidaurre, highlighted the importance of emotional support for cancer patients to face the disease. "This reflects the fact that it is also possible to live well with cancer," she said.

"Emotional support is a key factor in the recovery of cancer patients. It can help patients cope with the stress and anxiety associated with the disease, improve their quality of life and increase their chances of recovery," she noted. She then added that such support can come from family, friends, support groups and healthcare professionals.

"Patients who receive emotional support tend to feel more supported, informed and prepared to face the challenges of the disease," said the renowned oncologist, who is also founder of INEN's "Club de la Mama".

Courage and beauty

The "Always Beautiful" parade was also attended by the head of INEN, Dr. Francisco Berrospi; the deputy head, Dr. Adela Heredia; the director of Cancer Control, Dr. Gustavo Sarria; and the director of the Department of Health Promotion, Prevention and National Cancer Control, Dr. Javier Manrique.

Also present were the president of the Alianza de Apoyo al INEN (Voluntarias), Susan Díaz; the actress and model Olga Zumarán, the prominent producer of beauty pageants, Tito Paz; Susana Albengrín, the singer Jean Paul Strauss, beauty queens and members of civil organizations, patients and their families. Miss Peru World 2023, Camila Escribens and other models and beauty queens were also present.

Among the novelties of this edition, for the first time a medical oncologist, Dr. Mivael Olivera, and a resident doctor accompanied the patients. Emotions ran high when a girl with cancer and a patient who came outaccompanied by her daughter and granddaughter paraded.

The patients and queens who paraded down the catwalk displayed Ofelia's elegant designs, which were donated to the participating patients. The master of ceremonies was the well-known communicator Sandra Arias Shereiber.
